SC.OUT.ED will provide activities that recognise children’s fundamental interests and needs and are able to offer nursery and reception classes, the ‘foundation years’, sessions that will underpin achievements higher up the school and help young learners fulfil their potential.  Children are offered the chance to flourish and the chance to go and learn for themselves and take control of their own learning.

Activities are designed to promote learning through experimentation, problem solving and to offer teachers the chance to observe the children in the community of their peers. The sessions can be developed alongside your class topics.

Activities include:

  • Forest Schools to develop speaking and listening skills and physical development
  • Understanding the World – experimenting with scientific equipment
  • Creative outdoor activities such as art and story telling

Studies:

What People Say

Sam’s approach to our science topic, ‘dissolving’, promoted autonomy and self discovery. The children learnt some theory, put the theory into practise and then explained what had happened – the children loved it! I have learnt that the children need to have time for self discovery in order to better understand science. Sam was extremely organised and it made for a stress free activity day. I’d seriously recommend Sam to other schools, he’s great!

Dawn Whaley, Hartside Primary School

Sam is a wonderful trainer.  His outdoor pursuits inspired us with a multitude of reasons to embrace all aspects of nature and outdoor life. The students attending this course were all motivated to follow in Sam’s footsteps and engage children in a variety of fun outdoor activities with children in their own settings.

Wendy Jackson, Bishop Auckland College

Sam has organised a number of community learning events with me. He is very organised and plans great learning experiences for adults and children.  Children and their carers raved about the cooking on the fire and the fauna identification activities in their evaluations.  I would highly recommend a Sam Jackson led event at any school.

Helen Grainger, Esh Winning Primary

We wanted a high interest, active day with lots for the children to get stuck into and we got that from Mark. Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design with aspects of Communication and Language were successfully delivered. The delivery and management of the day was very good. Communication beforehand was quick and thorough. We really enjoyed the day, thank you!

Ashleigh Walker, Chopwell Primary

The session was booked to enhance the children’s imagination – it definitely delivered on this! The day was organised brilliantly and was enjojed by both children and adults….the children were asking when you were coming back for the rest of the week!

Amy Foster, Delves Lane Primary
