Bush Craft & Backwoods Cooking Activities Include:
  • Fire safety and lighting fires by friction
  • Building different types of shelter
  • Preparing a fire for cooking on
  • Practical 'hands-on' food preparation
  • Cooking on a fire and tasting!

Bush Craft & Backwoods Cooking

Pupils work in teams to discuss what we need to survive and the importance of teamwork and cooperation. They will use teamwork to build shelters and light fires by friction! Later in the day backwoods cooking activities will introduce children to food preparation and how to cook on an open fire. Dishes cooked may be roasted, fryed, baked or boiled - a variety of savoury or sweet recipes cooked in the great outdoors!

Please get in touch for more details or to discuss your specific requirements.

"The fire is the main comfort of the camp, whether in summer or winter, and is about as ample at one season or another. It is as well for cheerfulness as for warmth and dryness" (Thoreau)
